Welcome!

Pacific Islanders often get muddled together with a larger and very different ethnic group: Asians. This over-simplification often leads to confusion over the very little people know about Oceania and natives of Pacific Islands. We are different and so are our languages! Pacific Islanders are Pacific Islanders, not Asians.

Therefore, in effort to promote the various languages and cultures of the Pacific that often go overlooked, the Pacific Island Languages Lounge was created. The P.I.L.L. intends to raise awareness of news and current events in the Pacific, ensure the survival of endangered languages, and to encourage dialogue amongst each other and those who want to know more about the Pacific Islands.
